Jack Daniel's® Launches Line of Fully-Cooked Meat Entrees

Follows 11-month pilot, including California's high growth grocery market segment.

LOUISVILLE, KY September 1, 2009 - Jack Daniel's® Tennessee Whiskey announced today that it is partnering with Completely Fresh Foods, Inc. to launch a line of Jack Daniel’s ready-to-eat meat entrees available nationally in refrigerated sections of grocery and club stores.

With the success of the Jack Daniel’s line of barbeque and grilling sauces, the launch of Jack Daniel's ready-to-eat entrees is a natural fit. The heat-and-serve offerings include baby back ribs, roasted beef brisket, pork loin, barbecue pulled pork, barbecue pulled chicken and other "center of the plate" home meal products. All varieties are prepared with the special flavoring of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

Completely Fresh Foods: Packaging is the billboard

With supermarket products having just 1.5 seconds to grab consumers' attention, Alan Swaby looks at how marketing is transforming one traditional food company.

When John Wayne, one of the most popular cowboy actors of all time, took a break from herding cattle to tuck into a tin plate of beef stew or chili and beans, little did he know that 40 years after his death, he would be the inspiration for a successful range of ready-to-eat chuck-wagon chow.

These days, of course, there's nothing new about celebrity-linked brands, but making them successful and sustainable is an altogether different story. "Licenses are expensive," says Tony Cimolino, vice president of sales and marketing for Completely Fresh Foods,"and can last for ten or more years. To recoup that kind of investment, it's necessary to build a brand with staying power. This involves far more than simply slapping a new label on an existing product."
